The 7th Annual Nantucket Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 8 am.
Packet pick-up will be held Saturday, October 7th from 4:30-6:30 pm at The Haul Over at 7 Salem Street – right next to the Stop and Shop grocery store downtown. You will receive race number, timing chip and t-shirt at this time. Limited packet pick-up will be available on race morning at the Nantucket Lighthouse School from 7 – 7:45 am but we highly encourage you to save yourself the time and stress and pick up on Saturday evening. We are unable to accommodate early birds at pick up. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 4:30 pm.
Directions and parking:
The race begins and ends at the Nantucket Lighthouse School at 1 Rugged Rd. Parking is extremely limited and we highly encourage the use of public transportation, taxi, drop-off, biking to the start or car-pooling. Limited parking will be available on Scott’s Way, off of Fairgrounds Rd, just south of the school. Please do not park in the Wood Lily development area.
All racers will have access to bathrooms inside the school as well as porto-pots at the start line prior to the race. There are also 2 porto-pots stationed at the 6 mile mark. Food and water will be available at the finish line. In an effort to reduce waste, each finisher will be given a reusable Nantucket Half Marathon water bottle at the finish line – head over to the water station to fill up and re-hydrate!
The Nantucket Half Marathon is being chip timed by All Sports Events – race results will be streamed LIVE so be sure your friends and family check your results at www.allsportsevents.com
There will be 4 aid stations at approximately miles 2.5, 5.5, 8.5 and 11. We will provide water and Gatorade at each station. We encourage all runners to carry extra water with them. Much of the course runs through Nantucket Conservation Foundation property – protected open space! Keep Nantucket beautiful and please do not litter! Please place water cups and gel packets in the garbage cans provided at aid stations.
The course is OPEN to traffic throughout the entire race. While we make every effort to make the course as safe as possible with many volunteers, police and signage, the roads are not closed to traffic – be aware of your surroundings at all times. The Tom Nevers Road in particular brings racers in close proximity to traffic. For this reason and for the safety of all our racers, we do not allow the use of ear buds, ipods, etc.
The course closes at 11:00 am. Racers who have not yet finished by this time are welcome to continue to the finish line however timing may no longer be available after this time.
All finishers will receive a medal. We will offer a cash prize to the overall male and female finisher, awards to the top finisher in each age group. Age group designations are as follows:
M 1-19 F 1-19
M 20-29 F 20-29
M 30-39 F 30-39
M 40-49 F 40-49
M 50-59 F 50-59
M 60-69 F 60-69
M 70+ F 70+
Kid’s Fun Run:
We will once again host a 1/2 mile Kid’s Fun Run for ages 5 – 12. This race is FREE and all participants receive a finisher’s medal. The race will begin at 8:45 am and will start on Rugged Road in front of the school. Runners will head down Rugged Road, turn left on Seikinnow Place, run around the cul-de-sac and return to the school. Registration for the kid’s run will open at 7 am and a parent or guardian must be present to sign a waiver.
